Emily Burkett

Emily Burkett joined the Elmets team in 2010, bringing with her a broad base of experience, a can-do attitude, and a determination to provide clients with the best strategies to serve their communications needs.

During her time with Elmets, Burkett has cultivated extensive press contacts in regional, state, and national media as well as trade-specific publications. Working on behalf of a wide variety of clients, Burkett has also developed strong relationships with the emerging online journalism community and is highly skilled in the use of new media. She has extensive experience in media monitoring, political and community initiatives, as well as crisis management and is able to offer clients concrete and inventive strategies for both internal and external communication. She also offers clients her skills in graphic design, web content management, award-winning speech writing, and event planning.

Among her many projects at Elmets Communications, Burkett has most enjoyed bartending at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Legislative Day Reception and designing an original monument for display at Thunder Valley Casino Resort.

Prior to joining Elmets, she has held positions on nearly a dozen political campaigns, staffed the newsroom in the Office of the Governor, written numerous award-winning speeches, and worked as both a staff writer and editor for collegiate and professional publications. She also worked as a farmhand throughout college, caring for livestock, driving a tractor, and just generally smelling fabulous.

She graduated summa cum laude from University of California, Davis, with a degree in Political Science and Art History. She won numerous awards from both departments for her academic excellence and extensive original research.

Between live music events, art exhibits, and mobile food festivals, Emily Burkett is currently working remotely as she pursues a legal education at Harvard Law.
